The Hong Kong Metropolitan University, or HKMU, is one of Hong Kong’s oldest universities, established in 1989. Previously known as the Open University of Hong Kong was famous for distance learning and industry-oriented courses for part-time students. HKMU has come a long way from distance learning to degree and master’s courses. Now, the university offers both full-time and part-time programs at undergraduate levels and postgraduate levels.
Schools and courses
HKMU offers various research programs, Ph.D. and masters in philosophy, Engineering, and education. It has seven schools, including the School of Arts & Social Sciences, Lee ShauKee School of Business & Administration, and School of Education & Languages.
The school offers many Bachelor’s Degree programs in different fields, each with multiple entry points. These include entry points in each year up to the third year, which means that flexible exit points are available for Associate Degrees, Degrees, or Honors Degrees. For example, if you want to take a translation degree, you have to take admission in its Undergraduate program bachelor degrees from the School of Arts & Social Sciences. It has two degrees-one Bachelors of Arts in Language and Translation, and the other is Bachelor of Arts with Honors in Languages and Translation. The students will have to earn points every year to get to the next level.
Tuition fees
The tuition fees depend upon which course you are enrolling in, but for giving you an idea, the average local tuition fee is 49,600 HKD.
HKMU is known for its open and flexible education facilities for its students. It is their mission to provide affordable, high-quality education for everyone.
